Aishath Nadheema is a dedicated academic and researcher specializing in tourism and hospitality management. She has been serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS), Maldives National University, since 2014, where she was the head of the Tourism Management Department from 2022-2024. With an MBA in Leisure and Tourism Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, she brings both academic expertise and industry insight into her role.
Her professional contributions extend beyond teaching, having coordinated master’s programs and student associations, and served on key academic committees of the Faculty. Nadheema’s research and publications highlight her strong focus on Overtourism and cultural impacts. She has authored a book on travel in the Maldives, contributed a chapter on managing over-tourism to an internationally published volume, and presented a research paper at Global Conference Malaysia.
Currently, Nadheema is exploring the influence of social media on destination branding, reflecting her interest in the intersection of technology and tourism. Through her teaching, research, and leadership, she continues to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the hospitality and tourism field in the Maldives and beyond.
