Dr. Lawrence Dacuycuy

The immediate past Chair of the Social Science Division of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP)

Dr. Lawrence Dacuycuy is the immediate past Chair of the Social Science Division of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). He is a Full Professor and a member of the Society of University Fellows at De La Salle University. He serves as a member of the Commission on Higher Education’s Technical Committee for Economics member. He is a member of the Special Technical Committee-Social Sciences Division (NAST Scientific Career Council). He graduated from the School of Economics, University of the Philippines, with a BS in Economics in 1998. Two years later, he received his Master of Science in Economics from the same university. Finally, he obtained his doctorate in economics from Kyoto University in 2006. His research focuses on applied nonparametric and semiparametric econometrics, theoretical migration, social mobility, and macroeconomic modeling. In 2009, he was one of the recipients of the National Academy of Science and Technology’s (NAST) Outstanding Young Scientist (OYS) award. In 2012, he received the NAST Outstanding Scientific Paper Award for his research on wage functional analysis. His current research uses Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models to resolve key fiscal policy issues. He is also researching labor economic issues related to intergenerational social mobility, human capital, female labor force participation, living income, and skills development.
