Senior Research Professional

Dr. Selvarajah Thayananth is holding a PhD in Botany from Eastern University, Sri Lanka, a Master's degree in Environmental Science from the University of Peradeniya, Kandy, and a Bachelor's degree in Science from Eastern University, Sri Lanka. With over 20 years of comprehensive professional experience spanning environmental science, climate change research, biodiversity management, project management, and disaster risk management, he has served in diverse capacities across multiple organizations including the District Secretariat, Eastern University Sri Lanka, Ocean University, Sarvodaya, and UNDP as Development Officer, Research Assistant, Demonstrator, Visiting Instructor, and Project Manager. Dr. Thayananth brings exceptional technical expertise with nine years of specialized experience in statistical analysis using machine learning techniques and R-studio, proficiency in GIS technology and remote sensing applications, and expertise in developing robust methodologies for scientific research studies. Additionally, he contributes significantly to academic education with more than 12 years of teaching experience in biotechnology and aquaculture management. Currently serving as Senior Research Professional in the Natural Resources and Climate Change division at CEPA, Dr. Thayananth continues to make impactful contributions to critical environmental research initiatives addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
