Marcello Mollica
PHD in Social Sciences from the University of Leuven
Marcello Mollica holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Leuven, Belgium (2005) and a European Doctorate Enhancement in Peace and Conflict Studies (2007). He is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Messina. His research Interests include: religious and political violence, ethno-religious minorities, political mobilization. Between his recent publications: Understanding Religious Violence: Radicalism and Terrorism in Religion Explored via Six Case Studies (Palgrave 2018), Syrian Armenians and the Turkish Factor: Kessab, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor in the Syrian War (Palgrave 2021), Conflict, Space and Transnationalism: An Ethnography of the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War (Palgrave 2025). He serves as Deputy Chair of the Commission on Urban Anthropology (IUAES) and Director of the Interuniversity Center for Comparative Area Studies: Asia, Africa, Latin America
