Tom De Herdt 

Full Professor at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB) of the University of Antwerp  (Belgium)

Tom De Herdt is a full Professor at the Institute of Development Policy (IOB) of the University of Antwerp  (Belgium). He was chair of IOB between 2012-18. He studied political and social sciences and economics. His research focuses on poverty, capabilities, local governance, social policy. He has been involved in numerous research projects with partners in Congo-Kinshasa, Nicaragua, Rwanda and Cameroon and is focusing his research and policy advisory work on local aspects of public action in DRC. Tom is currently also the consortium lead of SPRING, a policy supporting program on Social Protection and Inclusive Growth and one of the founding members of the AIPRIL platform (Antwerp Interdisciplinary Platform for Research into Inequality).
